What to look out for

Back pain includes lower back pain, mid back pain, upper back pain and low back pain with sciatica. Sciatica is pain that is usually generated from the low back area putting pressure on nerves, from misaligned vertebrae called subluxations,  that extend into the buttocks and sends radiating signals down the legs causing pain and discomfort.

Most people have experienced back pain sometimes in their lives. There are many causes of back pain, some are self-inflicted due to a lifetime of bad habits and work related body positioning. Back pain can be caused by auto accidents, sports related injuries, muscle strains and sprains. Most of the syptoms that do occur share the same causes.

These are some of the symptoms of back pain:

* Persistant aching or stiffness anywhere along the spine

* Sharp localized  pain in the neck , upper back, mid back, especially after lifting heavy objects or engaging in strenuous activity.

* Sitting for extended periods of time from chronic pain

* Back pain as mentioned above that leads to the buttocks, back of the legs, into the feet 

* Muscle spasms in the low back 

Call me about your back pain if:

* You begin to experience any of the following symptoms, numbness, tingling or radiating pain in your, groin, arms, legs.

* If you begin to have radiating pain into your buttocks or legs, this may be a sign of sciatica.

* If when you cough , you experience pain, this may be a sign of a herniated disc.

* You begin to have problems controlling your bladder or bowels, this may be a medical emergency and you me be 

   directed to an emergency room.

Chiropractic care and treatment:

When you come in for your consultation, you will receive a complete exam of the affected area. If X-Rays are needed they will be taken. Then I will decide if Chiropractic care is relevant for your particular diagnosis and condition. If you are  a candidate for care , then we will be begin a regimen of specific treatment. Treatment may consist of spinal manual manipulation, electric muscle  stimulation of the areas affected, ice and heat therapy, traction, ultrasound, laser therapy, therapeutic exercise, and spinal decompression. Patients will also be schooled in home exercise and stretching maneuvers to help in their own recovery. 

Neck Pain Treatment & Management


Pain located in the neck is a common medical condition which affects millions of people yearly. Neck pain can be caused by a number of disorders and diseases and can involve  any tissues of the neck which mainly include ligaments and tendons.

There are many different conditions which cause neck pain. Some of the most common are, degenerative disk disease, neck strain, or sprain, neck injury, from a whip lash, that may be caused by an auto accident, or a herniated disc, or from a pinched nerve.

 Neck pain can also come from infections, like a virus infection in the throat, lymph node glandular swelling, or an infection in the spinal bones of the neck called osteomyelitis and meningitis,  leading to a very stiff neck. Neck pain can also be brought on by an uncomfortable sleeping position, contact sports, auto accidents as mentioned above or even headaches in nature from muscle spasms in the neck.

  In addition, work activities such as painting a ceiling , or looking down while cutting ones hair for long periods of time, sleeping with your neck in an awkward position. These kinds of activities can lead to neck strain, a sprain, or spasms of the neck muscle.

* Being unable to move a part of the body

* You have long term neck pain that suddenly gets worse
